To celebrate the launch of our new blog www.teacakecraft.eu, we are giving you the chance to win a night out sampling the best vintage style drinks worth up to £60 at VOC in London.
So if you are heading out this Christmas party season or looking for a reason to go to London in the January sales, enter now for the chance to win drinks and food courtesy of VOC in London.

Check out the drinks menu!  I have to say I'm a White Port Tea lady myself with Earl Grey in a punch. A real twist that works for me!

Christmas Crafternoon Dates

It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas!

Christmassy, vintage and handmade!

So it's starting to feel Christmassy, and with less than a month to go before the big day I am here to invite you to my latest Treat Size Crafternoon Tea .... vintage Christmas decorations.

We are going to be making Georgian influenced decorations using a colour palette inspired by the Georgian Christmas. I have some amazing (if I say so myself) fabrics and vintage buttons and trims for the day. Plus yummy tea and cake will be served throughout from my five star hygiene rated kitchen.

The lovely people at Derby Museums are again letting us craft on the kitchen table in the beautiful surroundings of Pickford's House.

Read all about last month's Christmas wreath making  here in the same beautiful setting.

We have just a few places left so be quick before they are all gone! To book your place click here

Bye for now,

Samantha

Monday Moods Pom-Poms !

Pom-poms!

It's that time of year when we are getting crafty for Christmas. I know it's still November but a pom-pom doesn't have to be only for Christmas, it can be made into a great decoration for a child's room, party decs or as tassels for knitting project.

In the Summer Kirstie Allsop's Handmade Fair put together this fab Pinterest board all on #worldpomination to get us all making pom-poms. A simple, easy to do craft.  I love the strawberry version over on Pinterest, really quirky.

Vintage Style Stamps

I am always on the look out for smart, cute and quality crafty tools. I have to say, I've had self inking stamps made for me last year and they didn't print properly! How frustrating! So when Speedy Stamps asked me to review a this cute 2.5 inch square bespoke stamp (the size of a mini clear tape), I  was delighted to try it out.

I love stamps! They look vintage and quirky on thick water marked pretty papers and really reflect the retro look we have at Crafternoon Tea Hostess.

Clear printing each time with my new vintage stamp
Speedy Stamps wanted just one image from me and sent over a proof for me to check. We ended up doing two proofs to make sure it was perfect and they even amended the files at the offices as the website address was small.

I love the lovely old fashioned wooden handle of the stamp and the big ink pad that comes as standard with the stamp. No hunting for a ink pad that's compatible.

For me, the guys at Speedy Stamps turned the job around in a few days and hey..the details is really amazing...
They turned my image into a vintage stamp

I now have faith in using bespoke handmade stamps! Why not try getting one made for your Wedding or Christmas crafts?

Bye for now,

Monday Moods Tea and Cake!

Hello,

Well it's Monday and today's theme is bright, happy and comforting. Yes, it's tea and cake. It's a rainy day here so perfect for putting on the heating on and putting a smile on your face.

So we are pouring a lovely cup of Lurve Tea in a proper little tea pot and going back through a Summer of delicious cakes and pretty china.

For me, the most amazing cakes are light, fluffy and full of flavour. I enjoy baking them and whisking up a light batter with the biggest air gaps possible in the mixture. Some people like decorated cakes with creams, fondants and icings but for me it's all about the cake.

So here's to raspberry and almond sponges, little chocolate muffins and gluten free chocolate sprinkle cake. All yummy in different ways but equally moreish for a Monday.

After writing this I want to get baking. Maybe later on...

Happy Monday,

Samantha

Monday Moods Vintage Lace

Vintage Lace

I love vintage lace and living near the centre of the old lace industry in Nottingham I am always lucky to pick up some lovely old finds.

I found the lace (top left) a few months ago together with some beautiful lace panels (which I can image were up at an old Victorian window). They are huge and I will using them as a backdrop for my next exhibition! I did feel very lucky.

Lace as always been a big part of my designing and dressmaking. If I can fit lace into a project, then let's do it! The Crafternoon tea classes in fascinator making (top right) include some gorgeous old laces and lace fabrics from Nottingham.

When I got married I used lace on my own fascinator for my Wedding outfit (bottom left), I had to include this picture as it's really personal. This lace fabric was all hand stitched with pearls and with widows net then crystals added, it was perfect for the day. At Crafternoon classes, I share all my hints and tips on how you could make one to!

So if you are looking for that extra special Wedding accessory for your outfit, get the girls around and we can Crafternoon in lace.

Happy Monday!

A Christmas Wreath Making Crafternooon

A Crafternoon in a Museum
Our crafternoon crafters making in the museum kitchen!
Last Saturday I packed up the Crafternoon cases and headed over to Pickford's House in Derby for an afternoon of wreath making fun. We had an afternoon tea to host as part of the afternoon of old fashioned crafty fun. I had looked forward to this event for ages!

It is early but it's great to be prepared for Christmas with our wreaths all made for December. V smug feeling I can tell you! The wreaths were inspired by the colours, fabrics and Christmas celebrations of the Georgian period, the time when the museum was a prosperous house in Derby.

Georgian inspired crafty wreaths

Here are a few pictures from the day, I've had a nasty bug this week and preparing for a blogger meet hence the delay in posting.

Our next Crafternoon is in December at Pickford's House where we will be making lovely Christmas ornaments!

Monday Moods Sparkle!

Good Morning!

This weeks Monday Mood is inspired by this week's bonfire night celebrations and all those amazing fireworks and sparklers displays.

I love the Swarovski's new sparkling bangles out in a range of sparkling colours, they would look great with my new Peter Pan necklace. I made this  necklace and will be wearing it out this weekend with a new outfit (exciting. As we are all looking at Christmas crafts, Hobbycrafts sparkle beads are a must little accessory for a craft box.

This week I treated myself to this pretty Monsoon Home coasters for the office. All crusted in little  sparkling beads, they even come with a distressed contained to store them all in.

Happy Monday!
